John,
I had that happen about the time Windows 7 first came out. Easiest way is to
re-install and then remove via the controlpanel.

Subject: QuickTime

A failed QuickTime update has left me with an empty QuickTime folder in Program
Files (x86) that I cannot remove. It claims I don't have administrator rights
despite being logged on as an administrator. I've looked at the permissions
and the folder is shown as not having an owner.
I've tried changing the owner and deleting the folder through the command
prompt with no joy. Any suggestions gratefully received! What am I likely to
lose if I don't have Quicktime?
