To Ted or whoever suggested checking out MariaDB.... THANKS!!!!!!
I downloaded the Windows version, installed it, (piece of cake), and loaded DB and data without a hiccup in minutes. Connects to my VFP app by just changing the IP address+port, and even HeidiSQL (utility) that I use to manage MySQL works like it ain't no thang!
