Its possible I may be able to help out. I actually have this web space
that I have had for YEARS - literally - since about the advent of the
Internet. ITs this russian buddy of mine - who immigrated to the USA
w/his Mom back in around '94. He has this other russian buddy of his -
and its this guy who has made this website space available to me for
YEARS now. And, its always been Free. But, alas - its Not always stable.
Thier servers have gone down at times - and, at times - unless I said
something - my stuff up there would be gone for good (yeah - I have
back-up of whatever I upload). At one point -a server went bad. They
then used a New server, but, didn't go out of the way to tell all of us
(seems there must be Others like me) - that the server went down. So,
then, we would have to contact them and say "What gives" - and then they
would give us access to the new server. This way -any of the old
webpages that are Truly dead - they would NOT have to worry about.
Well - U know the deal - "U get what U pay 4!"
So - if I was able to do this for you - you would just have to make sure
you do back-ups.
Also - your space would be a Folder off the Root of my domain(s). For
instance - here is one of my main domains hosted on that server:
http://Gallery-3D.com
And - here is one of my webpages that is on there in a sub-folder, which
is kinda UnRelated to the domain - a webpage which someone on THIS List
claimed it was done by a 5-year old (just LOVE some of the comments on
here):
http://gallery-3d.com/Bot-Guy/
And yet, here is another domain of mine - also hosted on this server:
http://vr-fx.com/
As you can see - after the last fiasco where they lost my stuff - I just
never bothered to re-upload the webpages (of course, if I did - and
showed it here - this time they would probably claim the webpages were
done THIS Time by a 10-year old!). :-)
In the end, I'm gonna have to search around for the info. I have on
doing FTP access on these sites - since, as you may have guessed - I
have NOT done it in a long time (making any updates that is). Even
though - I SHOULD have done more updates on my Bot-Guy webpage - since
I've been doing a LOT more stuff on my Bot. And, I'm even going to have
my work go on Exhibit in March out in Stonybrook here on Long Island!
So - George - what would be involved in hosting your stuff? Do you know?
Like - does the server need to support some specific TEch. to make it
properly functional???
