My best understanding of this when it happens is somehow VFP's file handle to the SCT is invalid; how or why is a mystery. You may see a TMP file in the VFP temp files (SYS(2023) location which is the under the hood backup of the SCT but in general your only option at this point is the 3 finger salute. As SCT is also the file extension for some VB stuff, they can also be flagged for scanning/quarantine by AV software, in which case you might also find something there.
