Hate to tell you this, as I can see you are in a hard spot, and you mean well.
But.....
There's always been many billions of people in that situation. And even worse. But you just didn't see it. Did you ever look down at them when you were up in the nice horse? Besides which, there is no plate to step up to. This is not an individual issue, this is a system's issue. As long as the system operates on the belief that it can keep misery the other side of the wall and pay no consequences at all (terrorism, economic bubbles, etc., prove that is a fallacy) this will keep getting worse. And Eloii will keep looking away and hoping Morlocks won't get to them.

Can't say I blame you.

through and somebody has to step up to the plate

Just wish it weren't me as I have neither a pot to pee in nor a window to
throw it out of <grin>

LOL
If I had a million, what makes you think I'd be trying to get more?
I'd be building a boat or sailing it.

Amen.

That is why I use the Master to Apprentice thing all the time.
I don't care what field it is.

Somebody that has been doing things for 40 years or more knows
substantially more than a wet behind the ear kid with 4 years of
theory and zero years of experience.

And in counter-point, "Older Is Wiser: Study Shows Software Developers'
Skills Improve Over Time"

http://news.ncsu.edu/releases/wms-murphyhill-age-2013/

"There is a perception in some tech circles that older programmers
aren't
able to keep pace with rapidly changing technology, and that they are
discriminated against in the software field. But a new study from
North Carolina State University indicates that the knowledge and
skills of programmers actually improve over time - and that older
programmers know as much (or more) than their younger peers when it
comes to recent software platforms."
