Thanks for the tips.
Shellexecute still flashes Word and then the document on the screen. The effect 
is even worse than in automation.
When I used nShowWin = 2 it appears in a smaller state but still flashes.

Well - those were my thoughts exactly - as I already mentioned earlier in
the thread - since I've also done Office Automation - and know of its
downsides. I just wasn't sure of the command - the ShellExecute - to do the
alternate printing technique. So - yeah - Ted & Frank - thank you both for
your follow-ups. I hope that it will help Jack get it done right!

If all you are doing is printing documents, without altering them, using
Automation is probably overkill. I suspect you can just call ShellExecute
with the "print" verb. See the examples built into the Solution Explorer.
