I had a redirect virus and this is what I did:

first checked to see if it is in add & remove programs. It wasn't
I set my browsers to blank page for home and closed them
I searched the registry for the name of the program. Mine was sweet something.
I removed the registry entry and made note of the program
I have an erase program that erased the folder for the program
My erase program could not erase an active program but erases it on reboot I restarted my system and it erased the running executable before it started

None of the antivirus or adware programs detected it. I acquired it by trying a trial version of legitimate software.

Centers on quibids.com, but throws up a few other sites randomly. So far
chrome and firefox are infected. None of the removal schemes on line seem
to work (eg: I can't find quibids.com anywhere n the machine or registry).
