In terms of spacing you can select them and from the Format menu select
Vertical Spacing or Horizontal Spacing, and in there Make Equal,
Increase or Decrease.

Well, as the designers of VFP, where do you stop if you start down that
road? What is considered a fundamental object? So yes it's up to you to
design, or to obtain a set of controls from somewhere else, either free
or paid for. 

Alignment is easy in VFP. Place the controls vaguely where they should
be, then multi-select and you can align their left sides, right sides,
tops, bottoms, middles, size them all to the widest or narrowest, anchor
them to sides of their container ...
