If I was to use an index (which I'm not...I'm just going to go with SET DELETED OFF), yes, a binary index would be appropriate here, for the true/false values. (I know you knew that, but perhaps we enlightened someone who didn't yet know about the BINARY indexes introduced in VFP9.)
