I am an economic liberal, but a social conservative, thus the R membership. It's getting to "When you're a Jet you're a Jet all the way" in politics, however - more like gangs than organizations. No one understands or believes you unless you are absolutely doctrinaire on all the party's talking points. It was worse when I was a D, the Rs are slightly more open-minded.
