I can see the screen respond to the brightness buttons, but there is no writing on it. The backlight is working

If you can shine a flashlight on the screen and make out a ghosted image, it's likely the backlight is not working. You could also veryify by booting with a live CD to ensure it's not just an OS/video driver software problem. It could just be a loose cable. The two main components of the backlight are an inverter and a cold cathode flourescent tube on older laptops, an LED backlight on more recent ones. These are repairable/replaceable, but at some cost. -- Ted Roche Ted Roche & Associates, LLC http://www.tedroche.com --- StripMime Report -- processed MIME parts --- multipart/alternative text/plain (text body -- kept) text/html --- _______________________________________________ Post Messages to: [email protected] Subscription Maintenance: http://mail.leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profox OT-free version of this list: http://mail.leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profoxtech Searchable Archive: http://leafe.com/archives/search/profox This message: http://leafe.com/archives/byMID/profox/CACW6n4uOpGD7NhwAz21ZiN+anCvwZm=+c-2fztzntcjcfsg...@mail.gmail.com ** All postings, unless explicitly stated otherwise, are the opinions of the author, and do not constitute legal or medical advice.
