I have my parents on NetZero Accelerator. NetZero compresses what it
can (not some graphics and not video) before downloading it to your
computer. Your computer then extracts it before display. It is faster
than their MSN account that they had previously but that's not saying
much. I would have switched my parents over to Linux except that there
isn't a service like this for the Linux OS.
You could download the Firefox extension, FasterFox. It pre fetches
links which utilizes idle bandwidth by downloading the pages linked from
the page that you are currently browsing. I haven't tried it but I've
