     Some people, when confronted with a problem, think
     "I know, I'll use regular expressions."   Now they have two problems.

Regexes sure get talked up, but they can easily turn into write-only code. I have used them for simple expressions. Rather than try to handle complex expressions with one regex, I use simple regexes with some other processing and glue code.
