Thanks Dave. I need to get a new proc anyway, I have a Celeron running 2003 and its not enough for modern os's. I will look into HyperV as I need a proc. Maybe win 8.1 as the windows server. I have that on all other machines and I do not need expensive server software. Al

Windows 8, 8.1, exchange and Linux on a 16Gb machine with i3 processor and all the VM's run no problem. The sevret if you do it this way is to make the underlying supporting O/S a virgin install and of course you have no need to do any updates to it as you will never use it in anger.
