We never encountered your problem because we never put anything in C:\program 
files.
Which makes me ask why do you want to continue doing that.  There are no 
benefits to having your VFP app in Program Files, and there are several 
downsides, including the one you're facing.  

I strongly recommend you try moving your app from Program Files to its own 
top-level folder, and include the run-times in the same folder.  Now you don't 
depend on the registry and life will get a bit simpler.
