AFAIK you shouldn't have to be a domain member, just be able to supply a
valid domain username and password when connecting, i.e. mydomain\myname
and a password. 

Also you would be just connecting to a UNC share - Macs don't use drive
letters, in fact I wouldn't even bother with them on Windows in this day
and age, but that's a different discussion.
