I am looking into Norton. I don't know why anyone puts that rubbish anywhere
near a pc since dos days.
I have had problems with 2000 and XP with write ahead cache and turning it
off stopped data loss. But I'm not sure win 8 has the same issue

Personally I have never had to touch anything to do with caching on any
version of Windows since the 95/98/ME. If it keeps happening I would be
trying to establish what else is accessing it.
