Back in the day I was constantly dealing with C5 errors (VFP5 mostly; by VFP7 they were mostly gone). I found I could significantly reduce the incidence of them by lowering video resolution and/or color depth. I'm not arguing for this to be your solution, but it may help you troubleshoot it by temporarily reducing your color depth to 256 colors or something absurd like that to see if the error goes away.
