I did an auction system 10 years ago and this was a sticky thing.
My design was to input item ID once, barcode scan, and then price &
bidder
# as it started to slow down only keeping the highest values as single
line
transactions in the system. No need for a grid, just an input form
in my
case.
Use single textboxes (or dropdowns) to get the data input; use the grid
to show what you've got.
