Just kidding. But for the newbies out there like myself. The secret seems to be to: 1. Add your table via the data environment. 2. Use the builder to add your columns (fields)
This will expose the column valid and stuff like that where you can add something like this WAIT WINDOW thisform.grid1.coLUMN4.text1.text && place this in the column4.header1.text1.valid If you do not use the builder to add your columns, you never see this stuff and you pull what little hair you have left out. So now that I have read reams of papers on grids, and finally figured out how to display the number I entered, I think it is time for a break.
