So I am guessing there is some problem with the
DriverClass=net.sourceforge.jtds.jdbc.Driver but don't have any idea
what it could be.
It seems that the DriverClass setting must correspond with the
particular jdbc driver in use.
I had downloaded jdbc from microsoft but was using the jdts class in my
setting.
I went to sourceforge and downloaded the jdts one and it looks like this
is connecting properly now
