USB dishes out com: numbers as connections are recognised.
Was of course from dos era. Now under win, I load comtools, and ftdi usb
to rs3=232 and thence to PLc's or Load cell controllers.

The backwards L shaped grey area I refer to covers about 60 to 70% of
the screen between the tool bar at top and the status bar at bottom of
the edit screen called the class designer. The form is called MillSys it
is stored in programs.vcx. There are 1024 divisions across the whole
screen, and I have them divided into four 250 columns wide plus one of
24 divisions. the four are the designated areas for visuals from each of
four exe's, running on the same PC with data stored locally not over a
netwaor..
I am totally self thought, starting this project just after supposed
retirement, about ten years ago. The clipper version was a follow on
from our EasyUse Server which was a late 1970's Star Network supporting
CPM, Dos, and Unix work stations using 8274 A-5 chips. Hardware was a
6800 CPU board , and Bus mounted Mux cards, and the network to Nic's in
the PC's. We wrote our own O/S for the server.
The Mill process Controller has an operating system like process handler.
This scheme replaces a Netware server and four workstations from the DOS
versions of the code which has run flawlessly for 15 years in many
different situation. But hardware support is becoming a problem.

I'm not sure what the grey area on the left is. You might be seeing the
"Status Bar" on the bottom. That can be turned off by a command. SET STATUS
BAR OFF
If you have a menu bar, but you are not using it (though CTRL+C/CTRL+V may
stop working) you can turn off the menu bar with SET SYSMENU OFF
AM WORKING ON GETTING 4 VFP EXE'S RUNNING ON THE SAME 19 INCH SCREEN
AND NEED ALL THE SPACE. GRANTED FORMS CAN BE BUILT IN THE CLEAR AREA AND
PARTLY OR ALTOGETHER MOVED UNDER THE GREY AREA VIA PROPS SETTINGS. THEY
ARE BETTER WORKED ON WITHOUT PARTS MISSING FROM VIEW.
