I meant select all so you can see the object you are missing as it will have marks round it to show it is selected. Unselect all, then select the object to delete and delete it. If you still can't see the object can you try to lassoo it by clicking on an area at one side, keep the mouse down and move over the area you want to cover. This will select anything that is there.
