We usually jump into the complicated stuff, skipping over the obvious: Is it turned on? Yes Is it plugged in? Yes Are the blinky lights blinking? Yes Have you turned it on and off? Yes (That usually solves 90% of my client support questions.) The server has been running for a couple of years, and we are able to connect from many machines around the office, including using the 32-bit ODBC Manager on this trouble-making laptop. It's only the SQL Server Management Studio that refuses to connect. I don't think it uses ODBC drivers; I think it connects to the SQL server using Named Pipes or TCP/IP. I need to check the connection configuration as Allen suggested. Other than that, I got nothing. Sorry, and good luck. > Well, you know, it's a bit of a relief that someone didn't point out something obvious I missed. -- Ted Roche Ted Roche & Associates, LLC http://www.tedroche.com --- StripMime Report -- processed MIME parts --- multipart/alternative text/plain (text body -- kept) text/html --- _______________________________________________ Post Messages to: [email protected] Subscription Maintenance: http://mail.leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profox OT-free version of this list: http://mail.leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profoxtech Searchable Archive: http://leafe.com/archives/search/profox This message: http://leafe.com/archives/byMID/profox/CACW6n4se4pCJ_u_B_cg8vk-J=4eai0+nddmg0vquwwvo54z...@mail.gmail.com ** All postings, unless explicitly stated otherwise, are the opinions of the author, and do not constitute legal or medical advice.
