For future reference:
In my ongoing SMTP adventuring, I have learned that a MIME boundary string
specification does NOT include any prepended or appended double-dashes
("--"). Those need to be added for specific uses.
In particular, if you issue:
'Content-Type: multipart/mixed; boundary="--MyCoolBoundaryString"'
instead of:
'Content-Type: multipart/mixed; boundary="MyCoolBoundaryString"'
you will get "MIME error: error: unexpected end of preamble", your
segment-defining text will appear in the email message body, and your
attachments will not be decoded.
This is the kind of stuff that is not explained in clear language in SMTP
reference documents, which is why this particular little piece of arcana
cost me 6 hours that I'll never get back.
