Offline backups is the only protection and the member did not have them.
From what I have read these trojans only affect mapped drives (i.e. a
letter) and not UNC paths. So if you can make yours use a UNC path.
We also have an app run every couple of hours on the server that backs
up the date live to a new dated folder which is not accessible by users
and therefore cannot be infected by them.
Best of all we block Zip file attachments which is how the trojan gets in.
