I've found my clients are delighted if I give them room to type in what they mean, like:
"603-555-1212 weekends" or "888-555-1212 x1234" or "800-555-1212 9-noon MWF" or "603-555-1212 or -1213" or my favorite "JUniper6-2352" Unless you're using a computerized means to dial the phone, let them type whatever they want. Trust them to do what they are supposed to do. Just my opinion.
