It has been a long time since I have gone to the M$ web site. I have a new
project which necessitates M$ tools -- no need to elaborate.

So, I go there, using IE (which I also haven't used for a *very* long
time), and try to get to the support area to download some tools -- I keep
getting redirected or popped up to some 3rd party support vendor site
wanting me to call an 800 number to buy support for BS consumer products
like Xbox. Also, I get error screen after error screen for Flash. (OK, the
Flash plug-in for IE is probably way out of date, but I get 10-15 error
message boxes that tumble open one after the other, no way to close!)

When I finally get to the support pages, they are replete with ads. I mean
really relevant ads like for Musinex (really! -- maybe people who develop
in SQL Server have stuffed up noses?) and Capella University (do they also
need fake college?). Plus the pages are populated with those annoying
little ad-work hyperlinks. I don't know if you know what I mean, but they
were popular about 4-5 years ago, where some normal word is turned into an
ad that pops up whenever your cursor passes over it. Annoying!!! For
example the phrase "Trial Software" pops up an ad for
[ReallyNot]SmartShopping.com/TrialSoftware. Is MicroSquish so desperate for
any kind of revenue that they actually direct people OFF their site for
software???

I'm really trying to say to myself "Maybe MS programming wasn't that bad. I
should give it another chance." But this crap makes it really, really hard.
I want to close out, screaming "I don't need this project *that* bad!!" but
I actually really do.

</Rant>
