Charles like VMWare. I liked VirtualBox, but now it's "Oracle VirtualBox"
which gives me pause.

Which VM Engine are you using and why?

What are advantages? Disadvantages?

Good features? Reasons to avoid?

I have a 12-year-old WinXP SP3 box I turn on a couple times a month to do
accounting. I should probably just use a paper journal, since there are
typically less than a dozen checks, invoices and payments in a month. But I
thought it might be a good exercise to see how feasible it would be to
virtualize an existing physical install and see if I could get it running
on a new box.

I found a Tech Republic article the describes how to move it to Virtual PC:
http://www.techrepublic.com/blog/windows-and-office/convert-windows-xp-into-a-windows-7-virtual-machine-with-disk2vhd/
and I'm giving that a try...
