On a side note, I'd have always gone with tabs myself, but what do I know!
YOU know how to make a splash. Welcome!
Tabstops were "macros" for manual and electric typewriters to put the
correct number of SPACES on the page for columnar output. When the tab key
was pressed, only spaces remained in its wake. Whitespace is added to code
to make it easier for the next coder to read the code. She shouldn't need
to have external knowledge of how many spaces you think a tab translates
into. Why would you have two characters, TAB and SPACE, to serve the same
purpose? CHR(09), ASCII Horizontal Tabs have no more place in code that
Vertical Tabs or ShiftIn-ShiftOut characters. In my humble opinion, of
course ;)
You'll fit right in here. Don't forget the fireproof suit.
Thanks for the history lesson, but was that an argument for spaces?
