How about sending an ambassador to the UN that would help build alliance with other countries and work towards bring peace to the middle east. Perhaps such an ambassador could organize a peace keeping force to be sent into Iraq should a genocide begin, for example. UN peace keeping forces would allow the US to withdraw troops form the region. A UN peace keeping force would also be less threatening to the secretarial factions, as a UN peace keeping force would not try to impose Democracy, or any other form of government, on the Iraqi people at the barrel of a gun. Such an ambassador could go a long ways towards reducing tension world wide.
Instead, we have John Bolton who doesn't know how to do anything but back other countries into a corner, or bully countries into supporting UN policy desired by the neocons. John Bolton is a big contributor that lead America into the war in Iraq, and is far to closely involved in the resulting mess from the failed policy. Bolton doesn't have the independence necessary to bring a solution to the region. The middle east needs someone with independence that could be trusted to mediate fairly with the conflicting interest to stabilize thing. Bolton; we all know what happens when an target is backed into a corner. Even the worm turns. John Bolton is a neoconservative and believes in perpetual war. John Bolton is WW III waiting for any excuse to start pushing buttons.
