Agreed Andy, As a "scripting language" you can't really define it as being a programming language in my opinion. I feel that the best language to learn on is probably Pascal as it contains all the concepts and attributes to understand other languages. I would also put VFP in a very close 2nd place though! There aren't many features we don't have in VFP and there are lots of added bity (data storage/manipulation for example) that are added bonuses.
