Ken: I am using a fixed IP and DNS name servers for my computers. The
DNS name server I was using on one computer stopped serving up names. I
changed to known good name servers and all is well.

On my development in-house network I have 3 XP, 2 Win7, 2 Win8.1
(different manufacturers). All are fine except the Asus Win 8.1
desktop. It loses the DNS now and then. I can set the DNS manually and
it still does not work. If I reset the computer, it comes up working.
Since I only use that thing for testing our software to be sure it
works with 8.1, it is not a major problem, just a 'rub'. I guess I
don't care enough to work very hard on the issue, but I am interested
in whatever anyone else suggests.

I have one computer - my development computer of course - that is
losing DNS. I can ping an IP address but not a url like Yahoo.com.
This morning I dropped and renewed the DNS on my router and it worked
all day. Now it is gone again. No other computers or Roku or
anything else are affected.
Any ideas?
TIA
