Graham,

Since it is running from a mapped drive, it has a block on it. If you right
click the EXE and select properties. At the bottom of the General tab, you
may see a button that says "Unblock". It is better to get the EXE to the
local machine and run it there. 

If you use a CHM file as your help file, it will not display the help
information when it is on a network drive.

I would advise upgrading to VFP 9 SP 2 to avoid Windows Compatibility
dialogs when running under Windows 8 systems. Or find a way to update the
embedded manifest in the VFP executable.
