Thanks for your suggestion.

Yes it is blocked - VFP only regains control if the application can be made 
visible and the dialog is closed.  I am thinking about a switch that will allow 
the application to be visible (rather than the default NOT visible).

Hmmm ... I suspect your best bet might be to create a timer and use the Windows 
API to go through all active window handles checking for the one in question. I 
don't know if VFP would be in a blocked state at the point of the dialog being 
shown though.
