Check out Evernote as an alternative to Google Keep. Evernote runs everywhere. Notes can contain rich text formatting, images, audio, embedded docs and can have reminders. Everything is full text searchable including (on the paid plans) well-written handwriting and printed text in images. There's an API as well. Haven't used the Windows version but the Mac and iOS versions are great.
