Chris, Yes, The image embedded in the .exe will always take precedence over a pathed image in the report if it has the same file name.
Of course this isn't a problem if you embed the reports into the .exe but as a matter of course we leave reports outside the .exe so we can change them at will. All images are put in the relevant graphics folder which is included in the path setting when running the .exe so that the images can also be changed at will. We also do the same thing with certain VCX's if they are prone to change as VFP will also pick these upo externally if they are in the correct path. Steven Black gave a really good presentation at one of the last Prague Devcon sessions on how to path items in VFP to gain the most flexibility. I'll try and dig it out for you.
