Jerry, If you have a MicroCenter store near you - another suggestion - if you really want to save - get a Refurb. I got an HP refurb - it was a smidge under $300 - and it looked practically New when I got it - and it runs nicely. Sure - I could use More Power Under the Hood - since I do 3D CG - but, this laptop is pretty snappy. And, its got a Great battery life - seemingly in the realm of like about 4 hours if I am not mistaken.
I think you can also get a refurb from MC via their website. And, Pete suggested NewEgg - which I think also has decent refurb listings. I believe there is also some kind of Dell Outlet online - that I think sells refurbs. Anyway - just a thought... -K- -----Original Message----- From: ProfoxTech [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Jerry Wolper Sent: Tuesday, October 20, 2015 3:58 AM To: [email protected] Subject: [NF] Laptops and list archives I'm now looking for a laptop, and checked the archive, where I found several helpful posts. I'll happily listen to anyone else's suggestions. (Ted, what did you end up buying this spring?) While I was looking, I had to scroll through many posts that were long because the quoted responses were several levels deep. (There were also the responses to both ProFox and ProFoxTech, which just leaves duplicates, since they're the same list; Tech is just filtered.) So, as much of a pain as it can be to trim posts, especially in a system like Gmail with its obnoxious default, please do.
