ALGOL was my first high-level (i.e., not assembler) language. Actually it was JOVIAL (Jules Own Version of IAL), an ALGOL clone built at System Development Corp in 1960, for whom I worked at the time. When I left SDC in 1964 I used real ALGOL on the Burroughs B5500 series. I continued through several employers until 1980. Still the best language I ever used.
