It has nothing to do with economics, and everything to do with being able to be self-righteous and look down your nose at "those troublemakers." Plus, bonus point if you are of the true racist persuasion - you get to hate them and be politically correct. If they ever really DID get them out of the country, there would be a lot of very unhappy people in the U.S., trying to figure out who to hate next.
