Yes,
Calvin and also John Koziol were excellent coders but I just couldn't get on 
with Ken Levi's programming style - a little like his speaking style i.e. all 
enthusiasm and disconnected jumping from subject to subject. Steven Black 
certainly writes great neat structured code, which raises the discussion what 
makes a good developer... Maybe food for another thread!!

Yes, now you mention it I went through the same maze years ago, and gave up.
It's amazing how so much of vfp stuff (the bits we can see)  is so opaque, but 
other parts are elegant and clear - almost anything from Calvin /Hsia for 
example./
