Yep, it integrates fairly well with the Visual Studio team functionality
now, but of course that is within the VS IDE. SourceTree on Windows is
very good too, and you can do Git command line stuff from within that.

Amen to that. The Windows 8 one is better in terms of allowing
transparency and proper cut & paste but it's still nowhere near the
richness of *nix consoles.
