I am doing some work with a local children's charity. They have an administrator who keeps all of the correspondence and reports, etc on her computer. When she goes on holiday a deputy takes over but doesn't have access to all of the data. I have offered a redundant external HDD that they could keep all of the data on and just transfer the drive to the deputy. Because the data is confidential the HDD will need to be encrypted. The solutions I have looked at so far seem to require software to be installed on the computer and I am not certain that the drive could be passed between two PCs. Ideally there would be some form of encryption with the software on the external drive. Can anyone suggest a suitable program? It would need to be cheap (free?) as, like all small charities, they don't have much money. Unfortunately BitLocker won't work as their OS are the Home version.
