Went to an office yesterday to install a new app. Needed a spare socket outlet for external HDD - only single wall socket available into which is plugged UPS (into which is plugged monitor, UPS and something else - didn't bother checking what it was).
Sourced 4-way extension outlet (OK I'll unplug the UPS, plug in the extension strip, plug the UPS into extension strip and have three spare.unused outlets). OK let's do it. Unplug UPS - computer dies immediately. Oh dear - what's going on here ? Check behind UPS (which of course I should have done anyway) and what do we find ? Computer plugged into surge-protect outlet of UPS instead of into battery-protected outlet of UPS. Of course, they claimed, it must have been done that way by the previous "IT specialist" who came to visit ... _______________________________________________ Post Messages to: [email protected] Subscription Maintenance: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profox OT-free version of this list: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profoxtech ** All postings, unless explicitly stated otherwise, are the opinions of the author, and do not constitute legal or medical advice.
