Jorg, I would try like Laurie says, change the whole page setting to Printable page and see if the margins in the report change. You can see this in design mode immediately as they will sometimes highlight fields that go over the printable width (they will be greyed out).
Also check on the justification of the image as well as the actual page physical width you have set up on the printer. Dows the actual printed report come out the same as the preview because many times you get the printed report resetting itself perfectly due to issues such as page orientation being misinterpreted by the preview function. If you aren't using it I would also suggest using FoxyPreviewer (Codeplex) to produce the report and it very often shows up problems like this.
