Disc read errors are pretty low-level errors from the operating
system. It's possible you have a problem with your hard drive (use a
utility to check it) or that the copy process that put the image on
the disc failed before it was done. If you still have access to the
original image, you can note its size and perhaps generate a checksum
of the file (it sounds like you are using OSX, so:
https://notepad2.blogspot.com/2012/07/mac-os-x-how-to-generate-md5-sha1.html)
and compare the source and target to verify they are the same. If the
sum program gives the same disc error, or a different checksum, that's
confirmation it is more low-level than the applications and you need
to try making the copy again.
