I have put a timer routine in my apps that checks for the presence of a 'shutdown [Now]' file - sometimes that gives me access to the exe and sometimes it doesn't - something to do with ms network file system; usually it clears after a longish wait, occasionally it needs the 'offending' workstation to log off/ shut down.
