It is not as simple as hosting your db in a rack that someone else maintains for you.
There is a fee for bits going in and coming out so it gets costly depending on the data you have and what you might be doing. You might find that getting a rackspace virtual server or a GoDaddy site may be better for you compared to AWS. As an Amazon investor I want more people to get into AWS but in your case, it is probably a bad fit.
