I use Radmin with one of my clients. $49 per PC as a one-time fee. The only trick is that you need to open a port on their firewall. The port can be of your choosing. Example: port 4899. I've used TeamViewer to connect to their PC, and then use their PC to connect to their firewall and set up a rule that opens that port, and forwards traffic to the PC I want to control. The PC should have a static IP address as you probably guessed.
It has been rock solid ... as long as they don't switch out their firewall, which has happened. 10 years worth of remote access for the $49 is a pretty fair deal IMO.
