Yeah, it's crazy and a lot of times we don't catch it until it is loaded into
our system, then we have to update it.

Pretty sure. Unless you use a source file type that might contain formatting
info, Excel is trying to be helpful by making educated guesses about the
contents of a cell.

IMHO, another reason to avoid CSV files. Does the same happen if the
worksheet is saved as, say ,text tab delimited?
